Yeah I heard about this. They originally wanted to do an "Alice in Chains" Rockstar but they surviving members turned them down. This does sound pretty cool though.
I also heard that the band Fuel fired their supposed drug addicted lead singer and are touring the country right now looking for a replacment.

That sux about Fuel. I didn't know the lead singer was an addict. I heard that the drummer left the band about a year ago....

To me, the whole Alice in Chains thing shouldn't be touched. I mean it's different when you want to form a whole new band, but Alice in Chains' music (like INXS's) can never be touched...

I agree Motley. But I never got to see AIC live. The one time we were supposed to see them, they had cancelled (they were opening for Metallica) because of Layne's drug problems. So I kinda would like to see them, just cause I want to see Jerry Cantrell live, but it would be weird with a new lead singer. They are touring Europe in the summer, don't know if they will tour the States after that.

I saw Alice in Chains live back in 1994. They put on a helluva show. I like alot of Jerry Cantrell's solo stuff as well. Saw him open up for Metallica a few years back. If you liked AIC, check out his solo stuff it's worth a listen. His CD "Boggy Depot" shows his true talents as a songwriter and also shows that he was one of the big reasons for AIC's success. I couldn't find a date on the start of the Rockstar contest. All it says is starting in the summer...

May 5th, VH1 Classics will be airing a Heart concert that the surviving members of AIC played at. I guess most of the fans were AIC fans and booed the other guests like Carrie Underwood and somebody else.I can't remember now. I guess it was a great concert, and eventhough it was supposed to be about Heart, everybody came to see AIC.

Actually it will happen. From what I have heard, the three members of the new band have been meeting and practicing here and there when they are not on tour. I liked Voivod. Didn't their guitarist die early this year/late last year? So sad. I thought Voivod had an awesome sound...

I've also heard a rumor (for Alice in Chains fans) that Phil Anselmo (former singer/screamer from Pantera) is being looked at as a singer for a reformed Alice in Chains band. Phil's voice isn't really like Layne's was but I would probably still keep an open mind and give it a listen or go see them if they tour...
