(NOTE: I think I've done this topic on every board I've joined. I guess there's some stuff I never grow tired of sharing, LOL!)
Really though, what does everyone else think of the "Don't Come Around Here No More" music video if you've seen it? The Alice in Wonderland gone wild theme. For the longest time as a kid, I thought Tom Petty was this mean guy (even though I always liked his music) based on the song.
One of my earliest concrete memories was wandering around downstairs. I guess my parents had MTV on at the time, and I caught glimpses of the oversized teacups and all that. When you've got that loud, dark sounding drumbeat and a bunch of "HEY!" screams, it's not hard to see how it would scare a three year old.
BTW, the sad thing is, even several years later in the early '90s (when I started watching VH1 myself) I was still scared of it if I didn't know it was gonna be on (if I knew, it was no problem), but I didn't want it surprising me.
Even sadder than that, today it still creeps me out if I don't expect to see it (i.e. in an '80s flashback show on VH1 or something).

Especially the scene where Alice's dress is the cake and they cut into her.

Yeah, the video really stood out back then. The Alice in Wonderland theme was so different. It was like watching a mini movie. Love the song too. Petty is one of my favorite classic rock artists.

I loved that video too. But it didn't really creep me out. It was just bizarre, to me anyway. I like Tom Petty. I still remember that story about him eating in some restaurant and the waiter kept saying to him "now, you Won't Back Down, will you?" and he was kinda peeved cuz he kept saying it after each time he ordered another drink, or when he ordered his meal.

Yeah, that was the scariest part. Of course, everything was, but it seemed to get creepier at it went along. The only kinda "normal" scene is the very beginning - Alice wandering in amongst the mushrooms before falling into Tom's "lair".
