You know how you go through stages of loving songs? I have just come out of a 'Sun always shines on TV'(a-ha) phase and am entering a 'Nothing's gonna stop us now' (starship) phase. What classic song is everyone loving right now?

'Here comes the sun' is a brilliant song - it reminds me of our flat when we were at uni. Your daughter has good taste.

Don't get me wrong - Lindsay Lohan albums have their place - it is just that most people complain about having to call the plumber to unblock the toilet.

OOOOH...easy....It is Sorcerer ...cause I just got it-I just posted about it. I love it, it is such a powerful song. I love the words. I have to play a song a million times when I first fall in love with it, until I wear it out. It drives everyone crazy...some times it grows on them though, like I have played this one about 6 times now, and it is starting to grow on my son, and he's starting to know all the words now too.

Jump is still big for me. Plus, am going through a Billy Joel phase for some reason. Uptown Girl has been stuck in my head for days.

I'm sorry to hear that. Did you try drinking heavily? That occasionally works for me. Gargling with drain cleaner was a bad idea, but since it chased "I'll Tumble 4 Ya" out of my head, I considered the tracheal damage well worth it. The disclaimer: (THIS WAS A JOKE. I DON'T RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE DRINK DRAIN CLEANER UNLESS YOU ARE ASSAILED BY A CONTINUOUS LOOP OF "THE WAR SONG". THANK YOU.)

This moring a Billy Joel song was playing on the radio, and it happens to be from 1985-my favorite year...and now I can't get the song out of my mind either...it was:
Well you went uptown riding in your limousine With your fine Park Avenue clothes You had the Dom Perignon in your hand And the spoon up your nose And when you wake up in the morning With your head on fire And your eyes too bloody to see Go on and cry in your coffee But don't come bitchin' to me
Because you had to be a big shot, didn't you You had to open up your mouth You had to be a big shot, didn't you All your friends were so knocked out You had to have the last word, last night You know what everything's about You had to have a white hot spotlight You had to be a big shot last night
They were all impressed with your Halston dress And the people that you knew at Elaine's And the story of your latest success Kept 'em so entertained Aw but now you just can't remember All the things you said And you're not sure you want to know I'll give you one hint, honey You sure did put on a show
Yes, yes, you had to be a big shot, didn't you You had to prove it to the crowd You had to be a big shot, didn't you All your friends were so knocked out You had to have the last word, last night You're so much fun to be around You had to have the front page, bold type You had to be a big shot last night
Well, it's no big sin to stick your two cents in If you know when to leave it alone But you went over the line You couldn't see it was time to go home No, no, no, no, no, no, you had to be a big shot, didn't you You had to open up your mouth You had to be a big shot, didn't you All your friends were so knocked out You had to have the last word, last night So much fun to be around You had to have a white hot spot light You had to be a big shot last night
Does anyone else like this song?????

When I looked Big Shot up, it was listed under his songs in 1985. Maybe he put it on a greatest hits album then-

These past few days I've been listening to Alphaville's Sounds Like A Melody in my car.
I know that probably tonight on my way back, I will already be fed up with it and I will find a new "current favorite", but right now, it was this alphaville song.

I just bought the new album from Aussie band "Cat Empire" called Two Shoes. Great single that I can't get enough of right now called "Sly".
If you like reggae/jazzy/latin music, do yourself a favour and check 'em out.
And please don't hate me but I actually like Ashlee Simpsons "La La"

Big Shot was on the 52nd Street Album. It had to come out in 79 because My Life is also on it and we lest not forget the Bosom Buddies theme song. Way before 85. I love that album though Isis.

What is everyone's opinion on 'Jessie's Girl'? I know that Rick Springfield was an ex-soap opera actor so he was probably crap BUT doesn't it encapsulate a point in all our lives?

I grew up with my mom playing Abbey Road when I was little....and "Here Comes the Sun" is one of my favorite songs to this day. When it plays my face lights up....it's just such a beautiful song. Your daughter might even like that album...some of the songs were almost child like...Maxwells Silver Hammer,Octupus's Garden,Mean Mr.Mustard....lol funny in a way? Also it's such a classic for Something,Because and Golden Slumbers....man I love that album!

I like the song Trinidad by Eddie Money right now...it was one I never listened to before, but I had it on a CD, then I heard it last night, and played it a couple times on the way home today, and I really like it.

A few weeks ago I had a Prince kick, watched Purple Rain a few too many times, I am playing "7" a lot right now, I don't think it gets enough credit and it is one of Prince's better songs.
