John Parr's Man in Motion is one of those hits that when you hear it you are completely transformed back to the first time that you heard it or saw the movie. John has a very good voice and it is a shame that he didn't have more songs released in the US. Man in Motion--St. Elmo's Fire Theme--the lyrics lead you through what is going on in the movie for those of you who haven't seen it, hard to believe that there are some.
The whole soundtrack that this can be found on is quite wonderful. Richard Marx wrote Turn you away, there is the extremely sensual musical theme. I definately recommend it to any who like a good soundtrack theme.
I remember the very first time I saw the movie, it was on HBO--imagine that!

Definitely one of my top 5 songs, it just gets your energy flowing the moment you hear those opening chords. Along with Don't You Forget About Me, one of the seminal 80s movie songs for our favorite them young actors. It's still relevant today, eliciting the feel all people get when they're ready to head out into the world for themselves for the first time. Certainly how I feel nwo that I'm at that age.
