Still an extremely popular dance song. This Billy Idle classic had something that has just made it more popular over time and one that you just can't forget. This would be a really good song to work out to. The music in it is one of those that just makes you want to move. That is the key to a good song in my opinion, if it has got a catchy tune to it, then watch out.

I remember hearing this song a lot in the mid 90's when I was in college, it was always one of the last songs they played before Margaritaville to end the night at our local hang out Hollywood's!

What are your memories of this Bille Idle Song?

the Billy Idol version was way overplayed in the 80's and still is today. Give me the original version done by Tommy James and the Shondells anyday.

Devolution here,

I still sing the other words that you have to be old enough to know in the beginning.

I thought for a second you were talking about the Eric Idle version - or was that Monty Monty?

that group was awesome sam, and even though the song itself isn't my cup of tea, no matter who it's sang by, tommy james & the shondells' version has to be the better one.

I agree with Sam and Ronnie; the original by Tommy James & The Shondells is far better than the one by that sneering pseudo-punker Billy Idol!

IMHO, Tommy James is one of the most underrated and underappreciated pop-song talents of the 60's and early 70's. [Smile]

I agree Steven about Tommy James

I do like most Billy Idol songs; but Mony,Mony isn't one of them.

Devolution here,

Jim, I am from Staten Island, and if you didn't sing those words people looked at you like you were weird.

But I have heard different varieties of the line,

we say "Hey you Sl*t get L*** get F*****!

Spec- those were the words.

Oh NYC, you can't beat it.
