Been racking my brain thinking which was the first video I saw. I know I was late to the watching video party. Being in Canada there was not MTV and much music we didn't subscribe to until I moved to Nova Scotia in 84. They had videos on Friday nights, but I doubt I watched them. The only thing I watched maybe was solid gold, but don't remember of they played videos on it. All I know is that the prime years when videos were first played from 81-84 I was pretty much shut out! So I know I saw at least a few videos, my guess is that I saw Olivia Newton John's Physical video on something like Entertainment tonight. What was the first video you saw, and if you were around when MTV first started I envy you!

No MTV here either. I remember that in the early-mid 80s they aired some Night Flight stuff here on new years eve. One video i recall they aired was Michael Jackson´s Thriller.
Also, my cousin is Sweden had Sky Channel plus MTV and he taped some heavy rock videos for us.

Same here Rip....no MTV in Nova Scotia! I fondly remember watching Friday Night Videos with Stu Jefferies and used to love staying up late with friends watching videos. I vividly recall the excitement when one of your favs was played...and the utter disappointment when they played a "dud" you didn't like...it was painful as you knew you only had so much time...so fun though. I seem to think Van Halen's "Jump" was the first video I had seen (though not certain)...and this is a very vivid memory for me. *Remains one of my all time favorite 80's songs. A quick side note, I remember absolutely hating the Eurythmics...I think they were a bit over my head as a youngling...but later came to appreciate them..."Sweet Dreams" is one of my top 3 favorite 80's tunes....maybe top 3 fav songs of all time. Great great memories....

Well, I remember when it all started and my friend had cable TV which included 13 whole channels and one was the once GREAT Mtv. It was amazing and we always looked forward to the newly released videos. I have no idea what the first video I saw was but Loverboy sticks out to me. I think it was Working For the Weekend.
Liked the Headbangers Ball also in the late 80s and 90s. That kind of music was hard to find on the radio.
I have about 14 hours of original Mtv footage on vhs from the early 80's. I believe One tape has some of the first few hours of Mtv. I need to do a rewatch. Thanx for the reminder Riptide!
