For me, the music in the 80s was and is the most varied music there ever was or is. The 70s was with the disco--it tired everyone. But in the 80s emerged a lot of varied music for all likes- high NRG; New Wave; Funk; Danceable Pop; Breaking; Freestyle; good Rock; Metal; Italo Disco(now Europop)and Hip Hop among the styles. It was also the decade of the One Hit Wonders-with them the 80s was and is the best decade in music. I make 80s parties for my students and most of them love the music from that era. Which of the styles of music of the 80s you like most? I love them all but rap (Hip Hop).

i love new wave the most, 80s pop & pop/rock.... then 80s r&b..bands like midnight star, klymaxx, atlantic starr, jody watley, cameo, debarge..etc. i also love freestyle and 80s dance pop.
i am not so knowledgeable with hair bands, but i like the music...still discovering a lot of those bands today.
and i don't mind 80s old school rap. i don't like too much of it but some of it is good.

I like pop, new wave, rock, hard rock, prog rock, southern rock, aor, heavy metal, thrash metal, dance, freestyle, italo disco, electronic, old school rap, even some new age and folk bands are good. I know that i forgot some genre(s)
But it´s a thin line between a good and a bad tune. It has to be melodic and if it´s not melodic enough, it´s gotta have the right attitude.
We (me and my bro) have a pretty big ever growing music collection and i love to go and listen most of the albums again and again.

i liked metal(priest/maiden) until '85, then i discovered punk/hardcore/oi/alternative/new wave/goth music genres. i ignored the hair metal and popular music bands during this time. looking back, i know i made the correct decision.

I was 10-11 in 1983, and popular music was a big part of my childhood...I was only a kid, so loved the sounds and images that flooded the video stations....Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, Prince, etc, etc. 1982-85 remains my favorite years for music....don't much like anything form 86-89, with some exceptions of course.
Though a bit too young to be into the heavy metal scene at the time, I continue to have fond memories of pics and posters splashed of my cousin's walls....Iron Maiden, WASP, Ozzy...
And although I never was nor ever will be a country music fan, some 80's country brings me back as well...it's what my Mom and Dad always listened to...* I can listen to any Don Williams or Ronnie Milsap album start to finish!
In sum...I liked a lot of the music from the 80's. I now love love love 80's new wave and a bit of punk...it was over my head as a kid....
