"Strangelove" is a tune by Depeche Mode released on April 13, 1987 and the first single for the then upcoming album Music for the Masses. It reached #16 in the UK charts. The original version of "Strangelove" is a fast-paced poppy track. Though successful, this did not seem to fit with the Music for the Masses's darker style, so Daniel Miller made a slower version of "Strangelove" which became the album version.
"Lovesong" is a tune by The Cure, released as the 3rd single from their album Disintegration in 1989. The song saw considerable success in the United States, where it was their only top 10 hit, but in the UK the single only charted in the top 20. It amazes me that the The Cure tune "Just Like Heaven" was not higher than "Lovesong".
When I compare these tunes head to head .. I'm going with "Strangelove" by Depeche Mode, but as an overall group I have to go with The Cure.
Both are incredible, so it really isn't that easy of a choice..

Lovesong by a mile for me. Disintegration is one of my top three all time favorite albums, so this was an easy choice for me. I didn't listen to either group in the 80's, but "found" The Cure in 1995 while in University and they've been one of my favs ever since. I actually haven't heard a lot of Depeche Mode, so I may have to remedy that soon....

i saw depeche mode about a yr ago here in birmingham and they were just awsome. depeche mode just take it for me but 'letter to elise' 'friday im inlove' and 'just like heaven' are just awsome songs

I like DEPECHE MODE more than THE CURE but out of those two songs I have to go with LoveSong.
