The Go-Go's are finally going to quit. They will be doing a short farewell tour this summer. I'm pretty bummed but I have seen them so many times over the years.
Thanks ladies for being part of the soundtrack to my High School years and beyond. So many good songs!

I liked The Go-Go's, and saw them back in 1984.
But what are they gonna do afterwards? For various reasons, I just don't believe it when a band or singer says that their next tour will be their "farewell tour", or the "last tour ever". (Examples: KISS and Cher)
And I would not be suprised if The Go-Go's have a "reunion" tour several years from now.

I saw The Go-Go's in concert about 10 years ago and they were awesome!! I am also skeptical about this "reunion" business...Seems like bands and singers only advertise that to get more publicity.

Man, I hope I can make this one. Never seen them, and I don't even have my passport yet.

Your incredulity is quite reasonable, Steven and Veronica.
There is an Australian English expression called "to do a Melba." It refers to people ostensibly retired who give repeated "farewell" performances or make continual resurgences.
