I had to respond to this one...wow, yes, Sweet Sensation. I sat through many of their shows since they were an opening act for the New Kids back in the day.
As Devo puts it, Brooklyn musis of the 80's...yes, very true. The actual genre for this is called Freestyle and I LOVE it!! Always have!
If you like Sweet Sensation, some other artists you might enjoy are:
Cover Girls-Hooked on You and Funk Boutique are all time favs!
Stevie B-Spring Love Cynthia Brenda K. Starr TKA-One Way Love, Maria & Louder Than Love Collage Lil Suzy
Isis, I can make you a disc... Devo, I really should have been born in NY.

I love Freestyle too! I just got Freestyle's Greatest Beats vol.2 a few weeks ago! In the late 80's I primarily listened to it, I liked it so much better than House music-I'm from Chicago, so saying that is a blasphemyLOL(I love House now, though) A couple of years ago I saw a huge Freestyle show at the UIC Pavilion. Everyone performed:the Cover Girls, Noel, TKA, Judy Torres, Nice & Wild, Sweet Sensation, Johnny O, Cynthia, Stevie B! It was incredible! The only ones who were missing where Expose, Trinere, Company B, Debbie Deb, Information Society, and Sa-Fire.
