I remember an early Green Day interview where they were aksed what kind of band did they want to be when they first started out and they said "we wanted to be like Wyld Stallions!" if this movie came out today, there would probably a real WS's album, reality show spinoff and the like.

Spinal Tap did have some albums in the 80s so you don't need a reality show to crank out an album or two.

Yes, Spinal Tap are the best fake band in history. Which reminds me, I usually watch that every year or so. So many things came from that. "Hello Cleveland."
