Mammamia's thread got me thinking...is there an 80s song (or songs) that you used to hate but now you don't mind so much? For me, it would be Crowded House. Oh, I hated them in the 80s...I thought their songs were stupid. But now I really like "Don't Dream It's Over." So what about you guys? Or are there any songs that you used to like but just got tired of?

One would be I'll Be There For You by Bon Jovi. I used to hate it when it first came out, now I don't mind it so much. Still not my favorite though.

When I was a kid watching videos, I used to hate when the Eurythmics came on. Now I love love love them. Sweet Dreams is one of my top five all time favorite songs.

When they first burst on the scene, I hated Guns N'Roses, I couldn't relate to Axl at all. I thought they were rock scumbags. But later on when I learned abou who their influences were, that they had more in common with the Stones than let's say Winger. I'm still on the fence when it comes to Axl(who isn't?), but Slash to me has always been the real Gn'R, I've learned to like Duff too, since I hear he was in Seattle punk bands pre-success. I heard he was even on good terms with Kurt Cobain.

I just thought of another one: She Drives Me Crazy by FINE YOUNG CANNIBALS.
you know what though? I think a lot of mine are due to overkill. you couldnt turn on the radio or MTV without hearing this song. Now -when I only hear it three times a year I like it!

Overkill does it for me, too. In the 80s I also wasn't big on U2, cause guess what? You heard 'em all the time, but now you don't as much and I can really appreciate their stuff.

The funny thing about AHA is that I always assumed their only hits were Take On Me and The Sun Always Shines On TV and then I watched one of those WHERE ARE THEY NOW? shows and they said that in other countries (other than AMerica, that is) they are still HUGE. I got curious and downloaded some of their stuff and ended up loving it! I even got my best friends their Greatest hits for Chrsitmas last year. A lot of hidden gems on that one.

I always hated the song "Electric Avenue" by Eddie Grant...but now when I hear it ...I can tolerate it-I connect it to Valley Girl- and that makes it bearable.

Cool, as a Prince fan I'm glad to hear it. Actually early on I wasn't a Prince fan either, I mean very early on, pre-1999. It was that album that made me a fan and I've been hardcore ever since.
I always hated 99 Luftballoons by Nena, be it the German or English version lol. But now, it's not so bad.
