Concrete Blonde worked its way through the Los Angeles underground band circuit throughout the early and mid 80's as Dream 6, until signing to IRS Records in 1987 and changing its name (under the advice of REM's Michael Stipe). Best known for walking on the more artistic and intelligent side of tunes, Concrete Blonde has that rare ability to simultaneously project pain, anguish, poetry and beauty through its music.
My fav song is actually from the movie "Pump Up the Volume" even though the Leonard Cohen version of "Everybody Knows" was played more predominately in the movie.
Next it's "I Want You" from the movie "Point Break".
From there it's the popular "Joey" followed by "Bloodletting" and "Tomorrow Wendy".

I like Still in Hollywood and the Bloodletting album, stuff pne there like Caroline, and the Vampire song. I still think though my favorite LA alternative band is Janes Addiction.

I always like the song "Tomorrow Wendy". My older sister had some of their stuff and I listened to it now and again.

Any fans of CONCRETE BLONDE should check out the movie PEP SQUAD. The lead singer wrote and performs most of the music (if not ALL) on the soundtrack.

Ali, I just bought "Tomorrow Wendy" off itunes. Great song. So are you trying to say that Concrete Blonde is older sister type of music? ha
