I love Phil Collins and Genesis. My top 2 songs are probably Land of Confusion and Easy Lover with Bailey.

I think Mama is his greatest vocal, maybe it's that demented Hahahaha, ugh part. I like Don't care anymore. I will never own an album of his, but he has some guilty pleasures.

No mention of Tonight Tonight Tonight yet, which would get my vote as his best either solo or with Genesis.

I remember reading some Texas radio station had a "No Phil Collins Day"! It happened during the mid-80's, when Phil's music (solo and with Genesis) was constantly being played on radio stations. And this particular station wanted to protest by not playing anything with Phil singing on it.
Instead, the only Genesis stuff they played was when Peter Gabriel was the lead singer!

Didn't this man have his own drum or production sound? Someone complained to me once about what he didn't like about the 80's and he mentioned the Phil collins drum sound.

one also has to remember that Phil Collins is responsible for one of the absolute worst songs of all time...sussudio. I'm still waiting for him to issue a public apology for that one.

Maybe he thinks he is apologizing by realeasing duff/Disney/adult contemporary stuff. Where's that fire he had with Mama?

I always liked "In The Air Tonight" because of Miami Vice. Hey Sam maybe this is karma coming back to haunt Phil for that horrid "Sussudio" song.........

Did anyone ever figure out what sussudio ever meant?
I like the music to Billy, Don't Lose my number- but the song is weird....I mean like what is he talking about?

I actually think "In the Air Tonight" might be the quintessential '80s song. The fact that's it's featured in iconic scenes in both Miami Vice and Risky Business just puts it over the top. Honestly if the guy had produced nothing else of substance, that song alone would be enough to earn my lifelong respect.
