I had a feeling it was time for VH1 to do something new about the'80s and i was right cause i just saw a commerical for a new show coming Monday November 15th at 10:00 and it called Retosexxual The '80s.......all righty then! and after seeing some of the preview to it i can see why it will be airing at 10pm it might be a little RISKY or TABOO for the children. You would figure that VH1 would do another I Love The 80's? Of course they will be talking about MADONNA and Porno Stars of the 80's now of course i love watching anything about the '80s but this might be a little too raunchy(like American Pie 2)for my taste. I was just wondering have anybody else seen the preview/commerical for the upcoming show? and What do you feel about VH1 airing something that is going to be based mostly on sex in the '80s? Do any of you plan to watch?

Sex in the 80's? They would have to include some mention of Dr. Ruth Westheimer.

I went to VH1's site to get information on this series, and I looked at episode titles. The final one will be called "Hotties".
Can I voice a complaint here? I may have been just a small kid during the 80s, but even I know that the term "hottie" was not used in the 80s. Women were "Babes" and men were "Hunks" and neither were "hotties".
I hate that (bleep)ing word, by the way. It's too modern and it's bad enough to hear people my own age using it, but when people double and triple my age are using it, it's extremely pathetic.
I only use the word when discussing how much I hate it. If I find a woman attractive, I'll call her a babe...If I'm in a piggish mood, I may even call her a hot piece of (bleep), but I will never call a woman a "hottie". I'd rather sound like a pig than a thug.

Check it out it's rocksteadyflamethrower where you been dude? hav'nt heard from you in while. About your reply you are right i don't remember anyone saying "HOTTIES" like they did "BABE" i remember some people saying "CHICK" or "CHICKS" neither one of there words are P.C. but "HOTTIE" is kinda lame i don't think thugs even use that word. I can't believe you dude! were you serious about having called a woman a "Hot Piece Of (Bleep)" that takes some baseBALLS to do. I know alot of dudes up north call women "MA"

I meant the "Hot piece of (bleep)" line as mostly a joke, C.T, although I'll use the term around my friend. I was just coming up with phrases I would use sooner than...Well, you know.

The show looks interesting. Anything 80s I'll watch. I still say chick, not meant deragatory, just what grown ups used to call them. "Gals" in some parts of the country. Haven't heard "fox" in a long time. I guess mine is just "Man, that chick is hot (or fine)!"

Hottie works just fine for me.
Well, of course...You're more into modern pop culture (90s and onwards), so naturally, a more modern word would work just fine for you.
Looking at those re-written lyrics, all I can think of is that you would be a great rapper. All rappers do is sample 80s music and change certain words around in the choruses.

EDIT: Sam, you know I'm only joking, right?

You can probably bet there'll be at least one segment on Prince (it's so convenient that he goes by that name again, rather than "the symbol") for the female side of the "Retrosexual" equation, and one for Madonna one the male side. They were the epitomes of the, well, you know. I can't think of who else might make the cut offhand.

Actually, the original song is called "La Isla Bonita". Either way, what do you expect from someone who once worked with the king of unsubtle sampling, one of my least favorite musical artists of any decade, Sean Combs?
Anyway, back on topic...You mentioned Madonna. Who wants to lay down the odds that they cover the video for "Open Your Heart" on one of the episodes?

Hey this is important we can't forget these kinds of events from the 80s. I will have to be looking for this one on VH1. I actually watched a show on the rise and fall of WHAM, particularly George Michael.
