Hi, this is my first time posting on this site but I've been coming to it for a long time. The Karate Kid movies are my favorite movies of all time. I even like the fourth one although it pales in comparison to the first three because Ralph Macchio isn't in it. Anyways, I just e-mailed Columbia/Tristar home video yesterday asking them if there will be a Karate Kid Special Edition box set released and I got a reply back today saying that yes, there will be. It will come out later this year but there's no official release date yet. I really hope this is true. I already have all 4 Karate Kid movies on DVD but the first one is only in full screen (and not very good quality) and I would love to see some special features, like interviews or commentaries with Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita. Has anyone else heard of this release.

Thanks for doing homework for us, Evan. I'm dying for this release if in fact is true. Nick, who runs this site, keeps in touch with John Avildsen who said he had done some work for a DVD, so hopefully his commentary will at least be on there.

That is really, really, really cool. I was thinking about getting the dvd box UK side but I understand there are little to no extras save interactive menus and scene selection. It would be great to have interviews and even, possibly, extra scenes, though I understand there is v. little available in this respect (???).
Cant wait...
