So what are we all doing to celebrate this milestone in 80s cinema history?

My friends and I are gonna throw a KK themed party. Everyone is gonna dress like a character from the film. We plan on watching it all day while partying to the soundtrack.
I agree with Knock out boy, it would be cool if they re-released it in theatres. It would be wonderful if the added the deleted footage to the film as well.
Also I wish they would release a better DVD, they could spice it up ad make it so much better.

Wow.... does that make anyone else feel very old to know that Karate Kid is going to be around for 20 years !! It was my favorite movie growing up. Well it's still one of my favorites too. But it's incredible to think it will be 20 years! I hope they do re-release it as well!

I have been emailing the studio that produced KK since last year. They have never responded. I get the feeling that they don't care what we think. I don't think they will be willing to produce a new and improved DVD just because a few million KK fans around the world ask for it. This makes no sense to me. hey could have added so much extra things to the DVD that they left rotting in a basement somewhere in Hollywood. I hope they change their minds.

I just received a letter from Columbia/TriStar pictures, in reference to my letter asking for a rerelease/new DVD. Here's the word from TriStar:
"Thank you for your letter of June 19. We are currently in the process of putting together a "Karate Kid" boxed set for region 1 that we hope will please its fans.
Your input toward that end is appreciated."
It's working!
