This one seems to get trashed a lot, and granted, it's not as good as the first two, but is it that bad? I enjoy the story and stop to watch it every time I see it on tv. Robyn Lively was a nice addition as well.
Come on out of the woodwork, KK3 lovers

When it originally came out.. I quite enjoyed "The Karate Kid Part III".. but watching it recently I just struggled with the ridiculous overacting of villain Thomas Ian Griffith that played Terry Silver. Who am I kidding.. this movie is just awesome!!!

Karate Kid 3 is very underrated. Ralph Macchio gives a brilliant performance; he is a highly underrated actor. KK 3 is, in my opinion, equal to his performance in KK 1.
I don't need to mention how fantastic Pat Morita was.

Nope, I'm afraid I gotta be the one that disagrees with you all on this one. The storyline didn't work at all for me. After Daniel had fought for love and honour (and his life) why would he re-enter e tournament that he only needed to win one fight in by one sudden death point? RUBBISH? And don't get me started on the villains. After Okinawa, these chumps didn't cut the mustard at all for me...

Daniel San was forced back into the AVC. Man couldn't even go on a leisurely descent down a cliff with his girlfriend in search of a Bonsai tree, without being threatened by 'Karate's Bad Boy'!

Caught "The Karate Kid: Part III" on Encore today and couldn't turn it off. So bad it's good!
The real star of this movie is Robyn Lively that played Jessica. Though I always thought it was a bit odd.. I now think that Jessica leaving and giving her boyfriend another chance is a little dose of reality for an otherwise crazy train ride of a movie.
Also, it is hilarious to know that Ralph Macchio is a year older than Thomas Ian Griffith that played the mentor villain. Seriously??
Oh and I like the dance club that Daniel and Jessica go to in the movie when Daniel breaks the guy's nose.

You've got to be kidding....I am not a major fan of these movies but have seen them all a million times like everyone. I had absolutely no idea how old Macchio was. I cannot believe he was that old in these movies. Pushing 28 in KK3. That is ridiculous. To look back also at Up the Academy and too think that he was almost 20 in that movie, when he looks about 14 is funny.

I watched KKIII yesterday, and it struck me just how downbeat it all was. I remember being fairly freaked out by it as a kid, with the horrible looking wooden man training dummy thing, but I don't remember the grinning bad guy being so nasty, and the younger aggressive guy as well. Remarkable casting really. I think at one pint, the karate kid (by now looking his age more, and a bit jowly) says something about "why am I so stupid"... and it's hard to disagree. He clearly was not really cut out for hard-paced tournament style martial arts, and basically wins the whole thing in the last minute of the film with a technical reversal. Cue end credits.
I have a film somewhere called Karate Warrior that looks like low budget KK clone. Will report back once I've watched it...
KKII, now that film is truly epic!

In the grand scheme of the things, it probably wasn't a necessary addition to the series. it would have worked perfectly well with one sequel, but that being said I still love the third one. It was pretty brutal at times and I thought it actually provided more character depth for Daniel. it showed his dark side, which hadn't really been shown before. Obviously he was being manipulated and he was confused, but it still showed him in a much different light than we had seen him in previously.
