Veteran actor Richard Jordan played Uncle Howard.In a career spanning 4 decades, he would be seen in such hit movies as "Logan's Run" (1976), "Raise the Titanic" (1980), "Dune" (1984), "The Mean Season" (1985) and "The Hunt for Red October" (1990).
In 1993, his health began to fail and he was tragically diagnosed with brain cancer. He was filming The Fugitive in April 1993 when his terminal illness forced him to withdraw. He died on August 30, 1993.

When Brantley is in the office of a recently vacated 'suit' enjoying the view from on high, the phone rings-he answers. During the conversation concerning boxcars, shipping and the like, he puts his feet on the desk.
