Opinion
The soundtrack includes the massive hit "(Now I've had the) Time of my life" and has always been readily available on CD. A second CD called "More Dirty Dancing" has been available too with more of the 60's tracks on it.
Recently though, a special remastered 2 CD collectors edition has been released with loads more music including both of the above CD's, the score and a never heard before full length version of "Time of my life" which is awesome and nearly 8 minutes long.

Sylvia Robinson who wrote and performed the song "Love is Strange" from the soundtrack is, in fact, 'Sylvia' of Mickey and Sylvia fame, the founder of the 'Sugarhill' record label - her label went on to produce the likes of Grandmaster Flash, Melle Mel and the Sugarhill Gang in the early '80s (a bit different to her outing with Mickey!)The last dance scene was, in reality, the first one they filmed and they used a demo version of "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" because the final version wasn't finished yet. Swayze loved the song and said it helped build real chemistry on the set. You can hear this version in some of the extra materials available on the DVD/Blu-ray. Thanks to Erica
Patrick Swayze actually wrote the song "She's Like the Wind" for "Grandview USA" in which he starred with Jamie Lee Curtis and C. Thomas Howell.The soundtrack album, produced for just $200K, went platinum in only five weeks "Time Of My Life" won the Academy Award for Best Music (Original Song), and ranked #86 on AFI's 2004 list of 100 Years - 100 Songs.
