The development of Beverly Hills Cop II was initiated immediately after the studio screening of the original. Paramount knew that they had a big hit on their hands even then. Along the way, the concept changed to a TV series, but Murphy had no intention of doing it and the producers couldn't find anyone to fill Eddie's shoes, so the production reverted to a sequel. Originally developed to be filmed in Paris or London, (hence the jewel thief theme), Eddie scotched that with his desire to stay in LA.Next Section: Deleted Scenes

In the Trailers for the film you are shown a scene when the guys break into the gun club walking over laser beams across the floor but this was never shown in the film. Makes you think again as to why it was so easy to break in a gun club.Next Section: Alternate Versions
