My Science Project Filming Locations:

Alhambra High School in Martinez Ca. and the city of Los Angeles were two of the filming sites for My Science Project. [Thanks to Shawn Nichols]

It may have also been partly shot in Tucson, AZ as the military base in which Stockwell gets the device looks like Davis-Monthan Airforce Base. At the base is the aircraft bone yard for Air Force planes. [Thanks to Mike Wohlers]

There's more evidence that the film was partly shot in Tucson, Arizona. A few scenes after the kids blow up the power line tower, you see a shot of a electric company truck pull up to the tower, presumably to fix it. On the side of the truck is the Tucson Electric Power logo (the local power company here)! It's a blue rectangle with a white lightning bolt and white lettering. [Thanks to Molly]

I grew up in Tucson and still live in Tucson and always thought that some of the buildings where Michael Harlan lived, which was above the True Value store, and next to Charlie's Auto Service seemed familiar. Indeed they are! They are near the downtown Tucson area. Here is the Google Maps link to see for yourself! The buildings still look the same after 25 YEARS! Awesome stuff! Just zoom in to the street view looking south.
