The Mean Season Filming Locations:
The scenes set in the newspaper offices of the Miami Journal were actually filmed in the real offices of the Miami Herald newspaper in Miami. They were allowed to film between 10.30pm and 6.30 am, and all the reporters desks were left exactly as they really were, to give an authentic feel to the newsroom. [Thanks to Decanus]
Many interiors were actually filmed inside the City of Miami Police Department Headquarters itself, once permission was granted. [Thanks to Decanus]
Filming did take place in the Everglades National Park, Florida for the scenes where Malcolm tries to save his girlfriend from the Numbers killer. [Thanks to Decanus]
Joe's Stone Crab, Miami. Russell and Hemingway were having dinner there. Or at least Malcom did. Christine wasn't eating. She ran out the door... (Beautiful mahogany-colored door). Joe's has been a South Florida institution for decades. The restaurant started in 1913. I was born and raised in South Florida and in that restaurant. The film shows the original South facing entrance of Joe's on South Pointe drive on the South Beach section of Miami Beach. [Thanks to Gary J Greenwald / Penny]

LX is our radical new locations feature that we've been beavering away on.. For years!
Each location will have it's own page with then/now pictures, maps, StreetView, discovery story and the most detailed explanations on how the location was used. Most importantly, the locations will have a status that shows whether they are verified correct and by whom. We are working with the actual locations managers or other crew where possible. The whole thing will be very interactive and you will, of course, be able to update everything.
