These scenes were actually shot at Vermilion Catholic High School, located in Abbeville, Louisiana. Google Map
Much of this movie was shot in Chester County, PA. The diner is located in Downingtown, PA and the movie theatre and school is in Phoenixville, PA. [Thanks to John Sly] Although it has been pointed out that the movie theater in Phonixville, PA was not from the 80's remake it's from the original 58' film. Can anyone confirm?
The football stadium used was at the Vermilion Catholic High School, 425 Park Avenue, Abbeville, Louisiana. [Thanks to Brady Broussard Jr]
We were thrilled when The Blob locations manager Archy Dolder wrote in to say: Great website! Thank you for your hard work! I worked on The Blob and I can confirm that none of it was shot anywhere near Pennsylvania. Location filming was split between Louisiana and Los Angeles. The stage work was done at Valencia studios north of L.A. - Night exteriors when the blob meteor falls to earth were shot at the golf course in Griffith Park in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. The motorcycle bridge jump set was built at a movie ranch in San Fernando Valley. Lot's more memories of those sleepless days and nights, but I'm typing with one finger on an iPad, so I'm about ready for a nap... The hospital scenes were filmed at the La Vina Sanitarium, formerly located at 3900 Lincoln Avenue in Altadena. The facility had closed in 1986 and was then demolished in the mid 1990's to make way for a new gated community called the La Vina Estates. The building was also used to portray Smith's Grove Sanitarium in the original Halloween. [Thanks to PaulH]
