In the scene where Barnes is hunting Linus, he is carrying an M16 rifle that has M16 A2 handguards on it. Those hand guards were not available to the military until the 80's. This movie is set in 1967.UPDATE: Joshua said that it was in fact a CAR15 from Colt. Can anyone confirm?

When Barnes is holding the little girl in the village (before the fight with Elias) one of the soldiers falls to the floor but the scene is cut right away. Thanks to Leon Ruiz

In the scene where sgt. Oneill (john McGinley) tries to light his zippo to light sgt. Barnes cigarette, the zippo did not light (he turns his head and doesn't realize this). sgt. McGinley turns back to notice this and lights the lighter and Barnes cigarette on the 2nd attempt.According to an interview with McGinley himself, this was a mistake by him but Stone used it anyway. He said he was expecting a CUT in action but it never happened and they continued the scene. IMO it is a great scene and more memorable than if it would have been cut.

In the opening scene (less than 1 minute into the film) they show a Lockheed C-130 bringing in new troops. The C-130 variant shown is a C130H which didn't enter into service until 1974. Typically in Vietnam C130D or C130E models were used.
The major distinctive difference is the D/E used a GTC (Gas Turbine Compressor or goat) while the H was the first C-130 model to employ the APU (Auxiliary Power Unit).
The other distinctive difference is in the flush mounted intake/exhaust ports for the Flight Deck and Cargo Compartment AC packs used on all models prior the the H which used the scooped Intake/Exhaust ports.
Having over 13 years experience working these airframes it was easy to see. If you don't have the experience, just Google images of both the E and H models and compare them to the aircraft at the 55 second mark of the film.
Bogus Blunders
Sometimes an apparent goof is not a real mistake
But, nothing bogus that we know yet for "Platoon".
