When Alex shows up at Dan's apt under the guise of apartment hunting, Beth introduces Alex to Dan unaware that they know each other.At that time, Beth tells Dan that "Alex is expecting a baby". Later, when Dan is confessing his affair with Alex to Beth after the bunny horror, Dan tells Beth that Alex is pregnant.

When Alex drops Ellen off after the amusement park, nobody is home, because Beth is out looking for her and has been in an accident, and Dan has been kicked out of the house.The next scene is the hospital, where we see Ellen with her Grandma. How did Ellen handle coming home to an empty house, and how did she end up with her grandma? It isn't addressed.
