"Bad Boys" was one of the best action movies of the 90's in my opinion. The teaming of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as Miami cops just seemed to work well from both a comedic to intense action vibe. However, I've always been even more impressed by the performance of Téa Leoni as the witness they must protect.
Here's a quick summary:
Miami cops and best friends.. Mike Lowery a wild bachelor and Marcus Burnett a family man, must find $100 million in stolen heroin before their department is shut down because the caper appears to be an inside job. In a race against time, detectives Burnett and Lowery track a master thief into the Miami underworld while dodging bullets and bad guys along the way. Julie Mott a sexy witness can identify the criminals, but she's not quite sure that Lowery and Burnett are up to the task of keeping her protected.
"Bad Boys" contains all the elements that peak my interest in action flicks.. beautiful girls, gorgeous scenery/photography, comedic relief, and of course mind shattering action scenes. Also, the supporting cast of Theresa Randle, Nestor Serrano, Julio Oscar Mechoso, Marg Helgenberger and of course Guido the killer pimp aka Joe Pantoliano are all terrific.
Oh and incredibly cool cars with palm trees surrounding them doesn't hurt either.
Everyone knows how much I love the beach and Miami Beach is no exception. There are are couple of great views of the neon lit strip in the movie, but the pic above is actually one I took a few years back during a night on Miami Beach. I will say that visiting the strip at night is right out of an episode of "Miami Vice" and an experience all 80's fans will enjoy.
Back to the movie.. unlike Michael Bay films of today, "Bad Boys" had the right mixture of plot and action. Don't get me wrong.. this flick is heavy on the action, but there is enough plot and character development to make you care about the characters.
One final thought.. as awesome as the original 1995 "Bad Boys" is for action fans.. the sequel turned out to be such a long awaited disappointment. It is sad when a poor sequel kind of tarnishes the brillance of an original, but in reflection .. Bad Boys, Bad Boys, whatcha gonna do!

Saw this once around ´96-´97 and remember liking it. But i really should watch it again.
Unlike you Valley, i enjoyed the sequel too. Entertaining bubblegum action.

aTomik.. wow.. I'll have to give the second flick another chance. I barely remember it, but the scene in the tv store was just ridiculious. Plus, the action was beyond belief and movies start to lose me when they get to that point. I realize that is a blanket statement since most action flicks are beyond belief, but I'll use the movie "2012" to make my point.

Thought it was decent, but not great. Does have some good action scenes too.
