I've always loved that song and the video clip. I'm convinced that sheriff murdered Mary and framed Richard Marx.

That's what we thought too...because he was following them around and taking their picture together...
But, who was she making out with in the car?
And who was the little boy- was that him when he was young, and his mom was messing around with someone?
When he was a little boy did he set his house on fire?

In the liner notes on his greatest hits CD, Marx reveals that the answer to the mystery is, and I quote: "Forget about it."

Great song and video. I remember even some Marx-haters liking it.

Good song. It always reminded me of 'Hand to Mouth' by George Michael (from Faith):
I like his 80´s albums better though. S/T (1987) and Repeat Offender (1989) are good albums.

The Lyrics to Hand to Mouth are really powerful:
Jimmy Got Nothing made himself a name With a gun that he polished for a rainy day A smile and a quote from a vigilante movie Our boy Jimmy just blew them all away He said it made him crazy Twenty five years living hand to mouth Hand to mouth, hand to mouth, hand to mouth
Sweet little baby on a big white doorstep She needs her mother but her mother is dead Just another hooker that the lucky can forget Just another hooker It happens everyday She loved her little baby But she couldn't bear to see her living hand to mouth Hand to mouth, hand to mouth, hand to mouth
I believe in the gods of America I believe in the land of the free But no one told me (No one told me) That the gods believe in nothing So with empty hands I pray And from day to hopeless day They still don't see me (See me)
Everybody talks about the new generation Jump on the wagon or they'll leave you behind But no one gave a thought to the rest of the nation "Like to help you buddy, but I haven't got the time" Somebody shouted save me But everybody started living hand to mouth Hand to mouth, hand to mouth, hand to mouth
There's a big white lady On a big white doorstep She asked her daddy and her daddy said "yes" Has to give a little for the dollars that we get Has to give a little - They say it's for the best Somebody shouted Maybe But they kept on living from hand to mouth Hand to mouth, hand to mouth, hand to mouth
So she ran to the arms of America And she kissed the powers that be And someone told me (Someone told me) That the gods believe in nothing So with empty hands I pray And I tell myself One day They just might see me... (return to top)

I think the Hazard video is a good basis for a movie.
I think filming it in black and white gave it a creepier feel to it.

Great song...The Sheriff did it.

It was one of the sleeper songs from the Faith album (one of the few that wasn't a hit single). Whenever I hear Hazard I think of it (and vice-versa).
I remember when Hazard came out it seemed like Richard Marx was trying to expand on his audience by doing something a little more challenging than his previous stuff, unfortunately for him the times were changing (having hair that was very unfashionable didn't help him). I always thought Hazard should've been a longer song with more verses (though I've never heard the album version).

The jealous Sheriff murdered sweet Mary in that old Nebraska Town. Case Closed.
