I was thinking about this movie from the Vision Quest thread. I love this movie. It came out in 1990, and I kind of had hopes that the 90's would still make some good movies.
I like this movie...because it is something that could happen. I have seen people not be able to get someone out of their rental property.
My husband and I have thought about buying rental homes, but I don't want to be a landlord, and this movie is why.
My parents owned 5 rental properties, and they had nightmares with tenants. I remember after my Dad evicted someone, and after they were gone, he found marijuana growing in their yard. I remember another family he had to evict..they had c0ckroaches, and the kids peed the bed, and the who house stunk. I remember my Dad having to repaint everything and fix everything, and they finally got sick of cleaning up after people, and sold all the properties.
I really love the house in this movie, but I could never understand why they picked to live up in the attic. They should have lived in the downstairs apartment that they rented to Michael Keaton.

Very disturbing movie. I know people on my husbands side AND my side who have rented out parts of their houses only to get stuck with terrible terrible "tenants". You would think after watching this movie they'd know better!

That makes no sense. So as soon as it was New Year's Day 1990, the 1980's were over, and you thought there would be no good movies anymore?

It just doesn't make any sense. So I'm guessing that she means as soon as the clock struck midnight, and it was 1990, all hope of any good movies was gone? Who the heck is thinking that when a new decade comes up? Yeah, I was standing around at midnight when it turned over to 2000, so worried and concerned that there would never be any good movies again. Not. I was just glad to be alive and well and happy.

I agree....just try to have fun on here. Bickering ruins it for everyone. Everyone has their own opinions and let's just leave it at that. HAVE FUN!

You didn't get what I said at all....back in the early 90s they made some good movies...Pacific Heights, Sleeping with the Enemy, Pretty Woman, Presumed Innocent, The Fugitive, In the Line of Fire, then it started going down hill...I saw a few movies like While You were Sleeping and Toy Story and It could happen to you ..that I really liked, then about the last movie I really loved that was new was the movie "Frequency". After that...forget it....so what I was saying was that at the beginning of the 90s things started off good, and I thought they they would continue to make good movies...I never ever thought that the future of movies would come down to what is happening now.

heheee...
To be honest, I did shed a tear on New Years 1989 but the 90s had lots of good stuff to offer as well!
