I liked both of these frontmen, but I always favored Cornell over Cobain. To me, he was alot better at the songwriting process than Cobain. I've always felt Soundgarden were somewhat overlooked when grunge hit in the 90s. They were on the scene before Nirvana, yet it seemed like Nirvana got most of the credit. I have and always will like Soundgarden better than Nirvana...

While I prefer NIRVANAs stuff more I will say that Chris Cornell was a little more professional and pulled together. Not bad to look at either!

I'm not a 90s alternative rock fan, but I did like the song "Black Hole Sun", so I have to choose the lesser of two evils and go along with Chris Cornell.

My question is, where is Eddie Vedder in the original question? All 3 were at the top of their game when grunge hit it big. Then there is the issue of Temple Of The Dog. WOW! what a colabortion that was!

Good point. I liked Pearl Jam back in the day, but to me it's all ruined when a band starts playing/singing about politics. Why ruin good music by making political comments? I'm not saying because it was against someone and for someone, but the whole rant in general makes it distasteful for me...

I liked both but I have to go for Kurt Cobain. I was more into Nirvana than SOundgarden altough "Black Hole Sun" was one of my favorite songs at that time.

I’d have to say Cobain, but only just, ‘Nirvana’ had more memorable songs, whereas 'Soundgarden' had three or four absolute classics of the genre;:‘Black hole Sun (great video for the time), ‘Blow Up The Outside World’ and ‘Burden In My Hand’ will always be mentioned anytime anyone ever talks about Seattle.

Motley, I agree with your comment about Pearl Jam's politicism (is that a word?). I liked them better when Eddie Vedder was this shy frontman. As for Cobain or Cornell, I have to say Chris Cornell. I was a much bigger Soundgarden fan than Nirvana fan.

Cobain and Nirvana all the way.
I love Soundgarden, but Cobain and Nirvana had that extra something.
Like Kash says, Nirvana had the more memorable songs.
