Raised in the African bush country by her zoologist parents, Cady (pronounced Katie - thought I'd warn ya) Heron thinks she knows about survival. But the law of the jungle takes on a whole new meaning when the home-schooled teenager enters public high school for the first time and falls prey to the psychological warfare and unwritten social rules that teenage girls face today. From a screenplay by Emmy winner Tina Fey, "Mean Girls" is a fictional comedy based on Rosalind Wiseman's New York Times bestseller, Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends and Other Realities of Adolescence.
I've been a fan of teen comedies since the 80's and I must admit of the new generation, "Mean Girls" is one of the better ones out there. Plus the soundtrack is excellent with the great Samantha Ronson song "Built This Way".
This movie is really Grool ... I meant to say cool and then I started to say great, so Grool!

I liked the part when Cadie said she came from Africa & the other girl went "shut up", & Cadie said "I didn't say anything."

I like all the Rachel McAdams parts period....

I have not seen this movie, I have thought about it though. I don't think Rachel McAdams is good looking.....she's in some new movie out now with Sarah Jessica Parker and Diane Keaton, and it looks awful, and she looked pretty rough in it.
I knew some pretty mean girls though in high school. I think every school has a group of them.

Are you mental? This girl is beautiful. Or is it because she's a modern actress?
Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :
No it has nothing to do with her acting ability...I think she's un-attractive. But...that is me. She's no Betsy Russell or Phoebe Cates...that's fer shur. She it too boney looking...and she has big eyeballs, and big lips...like Angelia Jolie, and I think they look like those goldfish with the big bug eyes, so I guess beauty is definately in the "eye" of the beholder.

which one is rachel mcadams? The redhead's the only one I like. That girl all the way on the right looks all zombified. Sorta spooky! As a rule I kinda hate the whole scrawny twiggy look that's come back in vogue. Gimme mamie van doren any day!

McAdams is quite good looking, Elisha Cuthbert (the annoying one from '24'), Sarah Polley & Rachael McAdams: Canadians forever!
Angelina Jolie is the best: she's pretty, she can act, she's a humanitarian, Angelina's got everything going for her besides the fact that she admits to sleeping around ...allegedly, oh well, in the words of John Ford: 'Tis Pity She's A Whore'

Second from the left Mr. Tia, blonde chick with big eyes and lips, some would say she resembles a goldfish if my goldfish looked like that, I'd never leave the house, I'd buy a Goddamn Aquarium

lol. yeah, i suppose she'd do in a pinch!
that woman on the right is real creepy-lookin' though.

Rachel McAdams beats the hell out of Phoebe Cates or Betsy Russell anyday...
Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :
Those girls are all icky...you guys have bad taste in women.
Actually out of the 4 of them...Lacey Chabert- (the brunette on the left)...a friend of mine has met her...and has a bunch of candid photos of her, and she actually looks better in the candid pictures than she does in any of the professional pictures I have seen of her...including that one.
I am no fan of Lindsey Lohan....and the other 2 girls...they all just have professional hair and make up done on them....you can make over anybody and they can make anybody look just as good.
Angelia is a complete nutcase...I am glad she is doing all the humanitarian stuff she does...but she is kooky as can be. Plus...she is a total sleaze...that whole deal with her and Billy Bob Thorton made my skin crawl...she has been remade too, since she left him and became the new Brad Pitt babe...they have overhauled her "look" and made her look more classy....because she had looked like Morticia from the Addams Family...and I think she was living in the real life Addams family with her brother...they both were weird as can be. But, I still think she is totally over rated.

At least none of us pasted a pic of a shirtless Greg Evigan. Until then, you have no room to call anyone's tastes bad. Maybe if Angelina got an Oprah makeover she'd be prettier you think?
Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :
Greg Evigan is so much better looking than Angelia Jolie, so I totally proved my point.
Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :
What did Greg do besides BJ and the Bear? I think he should get a sitcom on the WB network. That's where alot of the has-beens tend to show up...
Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :
I wasn't talking about his professional life...I put his picture on because I thought he was nice looking...and was showing the progression of men from then to now, and how they have really gone down hill...but you know what.... so have women...and the pictures I have seen of women on here, totally prove that.
Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :
Pu those 4 girls next to a picture of the original Charlie's Angels....Like put them next to Jacklyn Smith, Cheryl Ladd, Tanya Roberts and Farrah Fawcett (when she was young)...next to them...and tell me again that those girls are good looking. It isn't even so much either their looks, but how they carry themselves too. YUCK.
Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :
So you are basing how they carry themselves on this one pic? Have you saw Farrah Fawcett lately and how she acts? Once again proof that your are against anything modern. How does this pic show that women have gone downhill? Thank God your not a lawyer....

i think we can all thank god we're not lawyers.

I don't even get that??
I was thinking about this thread earlier and I asked my mom what she thought of Angelina Jolie...just for a second opinion...and she said..Ick, she said I hate her lips more than anybody's lips in the whole word...my mom said she looks like a Bratz doll, and I bust out laughing....cause I think she's right and now I know who they modeled those dolls after...I knew they looked vaguely familiar.
Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :
Greg Evigan should be collecting royalties from Chewbacca if that's the case then...
Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :
Hmmm.....you could be on to something....maybe everything and I mean everything is so connected in the entertainment industry....that it is all one giant conspiracy.

Ok - Valley's original question - were any of you 'Mean girls'. We had our reunion last year and as much as I would claim that we were the most wonderful year level of girls and none of us were mean to anyone - apparently I was wrong. Apparently our group of friends were 'mean girls'(on a totally minor level - we never thought we were, so it wasn't conscious, but other people perceived that we were). Not that anyone ever said that we were mean but just that we were an impenetrable group of friends who 'weren't hiring' for other friends. We thought we were really great because we were friends with everyone, we found out at our reunion that we merely were an intimidating force. However, the best thing about our reunion is that we got to know people properly (and vice versa because it was never a conscious thing on our part) and still keep in contact with the same people who found us intimidating/disliked us at school. The great thing about our reunion is we found out, and appreciated, what great people we went to school with. There was no competition - it was just brilliant to see everyone again.
Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :
Kat, I can definitely see how a Mean Girl like yourself doesn't see herself as a Mean Girl. But won't your Burn Book they were passing around at your Class Reunion kind of tipped you off though?
Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :
Can't mention "13 Going On 30" without reviving the quintessential modern high school movie that came out about the same time.
And while Stitch is listing missing Rewinders, I wonder whatever happened to kat27. Did she ever trackdown that Australian copy of "Rebel Dreams"?

No, none of that at high school...just mental torture...ha ha Tough love the nuns called it.
I remember being slapped on the knuckles with a wooden ruler at primary school afew times though. I was a very naughty child. I probably deserved it.

We had some Mean Girls in my school, but they weren't really mean to me. I was kind of in the middle of the road so to speak as far as who I hung out with. I did go to a few parties with the Mean Girls, but some of those girls were actually pretty boring once you got them outside of school. So I didn't really get picked on so much in high school, but I had my full share of it in junior high. And it wasn't so much the girls, it was more the boys calling me ugly and bean pole, and then they made up a nickname for me-"Tree", because I was taller than most everyone. But I quit growing by 9th grade. I'm only 5'6", not super tall by any means, but when you're that height in junior high school, it is just hell.

I never knew any Mean Girls in high school, but I have come across my share in adult life. My sister in law (aka "B!itchmonster) is the most awful person I've met. I used to hate her, but now I feel sorry for her because she seems to need to hurt other people in order for herself to feel good. She definately has major problems, and I hope she can work through them.
Funnily enough, there was a person here on the Rewind a couple of years ago who was just the same, she loved to stir up trouble and bait people into fights. By all definitions, EightiesChick was a "Mean Girl". Thank god she's gone. I hope she's OK though, because she'd allegedly gone through a bout of cancer years ago and had beaten it with chemo.
I believe in karma and that bad things are due to bad people, so I really hope she's alive and well...

I have known Mean Girls, but was never effected by them. My brothers dated them, but it never went on for more than a few weeks. In my high school, if you played sports, especially hockey, people didn't mess with you. I was lucky to be on the team!
