First up - Isis, I recommend you don't go see this.
I just watched this Aussie film today, and I don't think I've sat through such a harrowing experience in a cinema since "Se7en".
Briefly, an Aussie guy and two British female backpackers are driving from Broome on the north west coast to Darwin, making a stop at the Wolf Creek crater, the site of a very large meteorite impact crater. Once there they discover their car has broken down, but are picked up by a seemingly friendly local. From there it all goes to hell.
Wolf Creek has drawn comparisons to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, in that the film isn't in a hurry to get going, instead we get to know the characters well first.
The film is exceedingly graphic in it's portrayal of violence, especially against the 2 female leads. And while the violence is never pretty, the cinematography is superb, including many beautiful shots of the Outback landscape.
The acting was terrific on all counts, but particularly John Jarrot who played Mick, the worst nightmare come true of any backpacker.
Wolf Creek has copped a lot of criticism for it's unrelenting violence, and I admit I was unsure if I should go watch it. But I'm glad I did. It's certainly not a film to enjoy, but it definately deserves appreciation.
I hope it gets a release in the US.

here in UK we got to see this film a few months ago and it rocks! really is one of those nightmare scenario stories. Mick Taylor is a true psycho! the writer / director Gregg Mclean is already at work on his next flick; ROGUE tells the story of a man-eating Crocodile in the Aussie outback. I can't wait!
