I have a Blockbuster Video complimentary coupon to rent a DVD (as long as it isn't a "new release") for free!
So, I am thinking of renting out Michael Mann's thriller "Heat" which starred Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro.
I know that a 10-year Anniversary Special Edition of that movie came out last year, so I'm hoping to rent out that version.
I am asking others on this board for their opinions on this one? Is it worth seeing, considering it's got two legendary actors in it?

Although I've never seen it, I've heard it is one of the greatest movies of the 90s (It actually holds a comfy spot in the IMDB's top 250, if I'm not mistaken).
If it comes on one of the digital channels, I'll give it a go.
I would advise you to rent it. Tell me how it is.
Sincerely,
John Kilduff

2 WORDS AMIGO'S... SEE IT
Stunning movie from begining to end with a powerhouse performance from Pacino.

But DeNiro and Pacino are only together in one scene together. It is almost like two storylines going on. Val Kilmer's hair was awful in it. I have to say that it wasn't all that memorable for me. I like the idea of two legends getting together but I wasn't to excited about this movie. It was very long also from what I can recall.

I agree it is a long movie and yes Val's hair was shocking.I agree also about the 2 almost separate storylines surronding the 2 main leads. It almost (in my opinion) gives the impression that the criminals life is more stable and secure than that of the detective, who's world is simply falling apart around him.I liked that notion. Its interesting that everyone thinks Pacino and DeNiro were only in one scene together!!! The coffee shop scene is a classic, but theres also the ending!! even reviewers of the new special edition dvd state they only share one scene. Of course one is more memorable than the other.

HEAT is one of the best films of the 90's, pure & simple. DeNiro and Pacino deliver fantastic performances but also notable are the roles of Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore, Ashley Judd and Jon Voight. Michael Mann's direction is flawless; he films L.A. in all it's beautiful, neon-soaked glory. I remember going to watch this film on opening night at Leicester Square Odeon - the classic 'street shootout' scene was electrifying! the sound system was boombastic and when it was over I felt as if I was there! the 2-disc dvd is brilliant - get it now!!
