Well I have to say one of my favorite roles for Steve Martin. It is not so crazy that it is like a Jim Carrey flick. Steve's acting talents are displayed very carefully so that he comes off as a lovable guy dealing with the marriage of his only daughter. Wonderful supporting performances by Martin Short, Diane Keaton, Kimberely Williams, and George Newbern.

This is just one of those heartfelt comedies that it is hard not to fall in love with. One can never get tired of watching the magic that is portrayed on the screen in this one.

Nope. Everything gels perfectly here. This is defintiely a Top 5 Steve flick. I think he does his best when his characters are pushed to the edge by outside forces, and this is one of his best performances. They're able to intercut the humor and pathos beautifully. The former is made all the more humorous by Steve's voiceovers ("Right then I realized this was mistake of gargantuan proportions. THIS GUY was going to coordinate our wedding? How, with subtitles?"). True, it's by and large a shot-by-shot recreation of the Spencer Tracy version, but this is one time where the remake is jsut as good if not better. I'm sure if we all went through we he does, we'd experience a nervous breakdown as well.

Plus, his supporting cast does great around him. Martin Short is hysterical (I named my fiddler crab Franck after him), and Kieran Culkin mroe than proves Mac isn't the only great actor in the family. Definite viewing for your family.

I really like this one, and the sequel was actually just as good, which is rare.

Steve Martin's house in this movie is my favorite movie house. I love the gazebo area, I think they have dinner out there in the first one. I also LOVE the kitchen in this movie. I know that's "goofy", but I totally look at decor in a movie. I am very much in to decorating and I love comfy looking houses, and tastefully done. And I just love this house. I tried once to figure out how much the wedding was costing him, cause he says it while in jail...I can't remember now how much per person, but I thought that was insane for a wedding, and that he was even complaining, when he was rich, of course the in laws had to be super duper rich, but George Banks owned a sneaker company, so he wasn't on skid row. I liked his car too.

I hate in part 2, that they sell the house, and then have to get it back, and the guy was going to take a wrecking ball to it...I was feeling ill just at the thought.

Yeah it is really rare that a sequel live up to the original. This is one of the only ones that does. I must say as I have said before I love the chemistry between Steve and Diane in this. Really any flick he is in where he plays a dad is good. Also loved him in Parenthood.

I love Steve Martin. I think he is soooo funny. One of my favorites that he did is The Jerk.
I liked father of the Bride a lot, but it's been a long time since I've seen it.
I liked the scene where he was snooping throught the in-laws-to-be check book and had to go out the windo or something. I think that's the movie I'm thinking of.
I like Steve a lot, but I don't know about the Pink Panther. I'll keep an open mind on that one and go check it out, but Peter Sellars and Steve Martin have 2 very different styles of comedy.
I hope it works for him.

I love the movie The Jerk too..

We were always going around saying things from it like....

All I need is this thermos...and that's all I need.

I loved Steve Martin when he did stand up comedy...I loved when he did...

How to be a Millionaire and never pay taxes....

First...you get a million dollars...

Second....when the tax payer comes along...you say 2 simple words....

"I forgot".
