One of the best films ever made on the personal right of free speech and civil liberties. If you are a supporter of our first amendment rights this is a must see film. You may not like the people portrayed in this film or what they have to say, but they do have a right to say it. If you don't like it don't listen and don't watch. They may offend you. Great performances by Woody Harrelson (way over-the-top) and Edward Norton (very tolerant) are an asset.I have ongoing subscription to Hustler magazine

Very good film, and you are correct that it is a thought-provoking piece.
Granted, Larry Flynt is perhaps not the best example of 1st Amendment rights, but he goes to show that if the U.S. Constitution can protect the free speech rights of even a sleazeball like Flynt, then it could protect you and me.
The eerie thing about this movie is the excellent acting job by Courtney Love, who plays Larry's drug addicted wife Althea Leisure. I mean, when you think of it, it seems perfect casting and a eerie foreshadow of Courtney's own real-life problems, don't it?
