Well, as some of you might know, I made a thread about this movie awhile back--I remembered bits and pieces, but didn't know the title.
So I bought it!
Here's what I thought:
It was cheesy. I mean, really cheesy. But, in a good kind of way. A lot of the time, the acting got pretty bad, but it had some genuinely funny moments as well as some sad ones, too. Near the end, I was actually tearing up (It's not a very common thing for me--I've never actually gotten past tearing up at a movie, though. The only other time I've almost cried during a movie was in Return to Me when David Duchuvny [i kant spel] is crying over his dead wife.). I was actually laughing at quite a bit of it, especially when Johnny was dreaming about eating Chuck's dad and the dad's egging him on. He's got nothing but his head and he's like, "Anyone could do that!" The doctor guy was great fun.
Overall, a good comedy movie. I liked it! So, uh . . . That's it.

Okay Lupa I have to admit I did like this one too. The first time I saw this film was when it came out as a trailer for the video store that I worked at. So when I watched it it had this message constantly going across the bottom of the screen that said..not for sale..this is a screener only. If you liked this one then I also recommend Serial Mom.
Other films that I saw that were screeners included The Ref, Hocus Pocus, and When a Man Loves a Woman.
Yeah I would say that My Boyfriend's Back definately has that cheesey quality to it. It also kind of and I mean this in a "very kind of way" makes me think of Heathers.

Serial Mom . . . what's it about? Serial killer mom, or what?
I saw part of The Ref, which I thought was okay. Hocus Pocus was good fun to me (I'm a supernatural movie weirdo, who'da thunk it?). Never heard of When a Man Loves a Woman.
I'm sorry to say I haven't seen Heathers, but I should rent it someday . . . Maybe.
It was so funny; wasn't the guy who played the Dad in My Boyfriend's Back the guy who played Max in The Lost Boys? I almost expected him to start talking about a big, happy family. Y'know, only with the dead son and all . . . Forget what I just said; it's late. I liked Johnny's friend. "You just bit my arm!" "It was just gonna be a little bite." "You shouldn't be taking any bites!" The way his said it and the look on his face was priceless.

By the way, I know someone was asking on the other thread I made about the song at the end of the movie. According to the credits, here's the songs used in the movie:
Limbo- Julianna Raye You Should Be Mine- Andy Anderson The Fever- Danny Tate This is It- House of Freaks Abilene- Standard Fruit Hanging on For Dear Life- MMC Get Thru 2 U- Slam The One I Love- The Sextants
The song that Johnny and Missy are dancing to is Hanging on For Dear Life.

Just watched this for the first time. Recommended to me by Muffy The Vampire Slayer. It was pretty good! I was surprised how much I liked it. Fun all the way through. Lots of laughs, especially from the parents. This might be the coolest mom ever. Anyway, cute little love story to go along, and Traci Lind is really great in this. She is fantastic.

Yeah, Philip Seymour Hoffman for example. He was such a bada$$ in this movie, until that fatal accident

"Okay, well, you're dead. Which is unusual, because we don't normally see this much activity in a dead person."

I watched it again and loved it all over.
I love all the dark jokes....his parents were great!!....it's so campy and lovely at the same time.
You really believe their love story and I do think it's all because of Traci Lind.
My favorite parts were....fighting with and dreams of having to eat people.....when the Phillip Seymour's dad is egging him on and ends up just being a skeleton and head in a chair you can't help but laugh.
it's totally a 90's movie with an 80's hangover.....I hope more people check it out.
