I’m always curious about artists who use unconventional materials in their work, especially when they combine it with themes like community or personal stories. I recently heard about Borinquen Gallo and her unique sculptures. She seems to have a knack for blending beauty and chaos in a really striking way. Has anyone seen her work in person? How does it feel when you’re standing in front of it? And are there any upcoming exhibitions or installations of hers in NYC?

You’ll love this: Borinquen Gallo’s exhibition Like a Jungle Orchid for a Lovestruck Bee at Burning in Water is an absolute must-see: https://gothamtogo.com/borinquen-gallo-like-a-jungle-orchid-for-a-lovestruck-bee-at-burning-in-water/ Her use of discarded materials to create vibrant sculptures is mind-blowing—it’s like she’s turning everyday trash into treasure. I saw one of her installations a while back, and the mix of textures and colors was so powerful. What’s cool is how her work talks about the tension between beauty and struggle, especially in urban spaces. If you’re into thought-provoking, unconventional art, definitely check this out while it’s still on!
