"Hoping to overthrow his brother as ruler of the planet Metropolis, the evil Graal (Ivan Rassimov) enlists the help of the insane Dr. Kraspin (Arthur Kennedy), who has invented a chemical capable of turning an ordinary person into a perfect soldier. They test this chemical on the pilot Golob (Richard Kiel, turning the unsuspecting victim into a mindless but indestructable automaton possessing superhuman strength. The people of Metropolis must somehow outwit Graal before he can create an army of these soldiers, or their planet will be destroyed." (IMDb)
Haha, The Humanoid was superfun italian Star Wars/Galactica rip-off directed by Aldo Lado, starring Richard Kiel, Ivan Rassimov, Leonard Mann plus the beautiful ladies Barbara Bach and Corinne Clery.
The intro scrolls over the screen just like in Star Wars, the enemy spaceship looks familiar etc. etc. Those italians had pretty big balls back in the day Kiel plays innocent space adventurer (and owns a robot dog) which the bad guys turn into the evil Humanoid. So, Kiel basically plays Jaws (from the Bond movies) the rest of the film I love the outfit Barbara Bach has in the beginning, the robot dog Kip is fun, Arthur Kennedy has a fantastic laugh and i like the theme tune composed by Ennio Morricone. Enjoyable stuff if you donīt take it too seriously.
Amazing Shusei Nagaoka art for the film The Humanoid. Not surprisingly, this bloodsucking device looks a bit different in the final film
