Nashville is an ensemble piece with 24 principal character by the great Robert Altman, an amazing observer and anthropologist.
It is one of my favorite films, a brilliant reflection of the time spirit, but in the first place a deeply human film - more natural than any other film I know.
I can watch this it over and over without ever thinking I already know the film. It's really funny at moments, but also has some very emotional parts.
I think of the climax scene as one of the greatest, most touching scenes ever filmed.

Altman was on a roll then. Nashville is one of his best.

Definitely! I saw about everything he did in the 70's, and I liked all of it.

I need to get this one.
Never seen it but i love Short Cuts (1993) which also includes over 20 principal characters.

I also love 70s Altman movies McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971) and California Split (1974)

I think that I shall watch Nashville before too long.

It sounds as if it is a classic.
