There is one that I heard a few weeks ago, and ever since I heard it, I went around singing it all the time. I had no clue what it was called, or who sang it. I kept trying to put in words from it to pull up the lyrics...but I never ever would have guessed it. This morning, it woke me up out of a dead sleep-because I always play the 70s music channel all night long.

Apparently many people recorded it.

It's called:

Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep

I had to show it to my mom, because she and my son kept going around singing it too, because I was.

The version I heard on the radio was by Mac and Katie Kissoon.

But, I found this on youtube, and I like it.

I have no clue why...it's a goofy song..but it is catchy or something...I like the outfit the blonde girl is wearing:

Has anyone else even heard of it?

Check out towards the end of the song, watch the guy in the front dancing, then watch the girl beside him.

This one has me about crazy...my mom and son sing it all the time, they like it.

I never heard of the band "Middle of the Road", where are they from? Does anyone know? The lead singer's name is Sally Carr- she has some cute clothes.

I had two songs stuck in my heard today, could it be I'm falling in love by the Spinners and Kung-Fu fighting by Carl Douglas. Cheesy but catchy.

They're an iconic early 70's act over here, and the song "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" is the epitome of 70's musical kitsch. A bit like the band 'Dawn' and the song "Tie a Yellow Ribbon".

The song stuck in your head because a big part of it is essentially a chant repeated over and over. You'll have it lodged in your brain forever!

"Where's your mama gone?"

You can really hear her Scottish accent come through when she addresses the audience.

Logan5- are they an English band?

I read that the song is about a bird. Do you know if that is true? It makes sense, but if you didn't really know that, the whole thing actually sounds kind of depressing about "where did you mama go, and where did your papa go."

They're Scottish (which also makes them British).

The song certainly sounds like it's about a bird, but I've never really thought about it. I think it was written by a European so the lyrics wouldn't necessarily work that well. Plus it's bubblegum, which relies on hooks and rhymes more than lyrical content.

There was a version of the song by Mac and Katie Kissoon that was a hit in the US (the Middle of the Road version wasn't).
