Me and my mom, and son...had to drive to another town about 30 minutes from here to buy light fixtures this afternoon, so we put the radio on Wally 103.9....that is the oldies station around here, and me and my mom have been talking for the past few days about how growing up I had my own music, but I liked her music too, and I know all the words to all the songs from the 50's and 60's, and how fun it is to goof around and sing in the car driving with my mom...yesterday we were sitting waiting for my son to get out of school, and we were singing the lyrics along with the song Love Potion #9...and she said do you know there probably hasn't been a song out in at least 10 years that me and you both have liked that we knew all the words and could sing along with it...and she said..about when me and my brother were kids, we each had our own stereo system in our rooms...we had head phones, and we had our own record albums...my brother listened to Def Leppard and The Knack and Sweet, and I listened to everything, and we fell asleep every night listening to the radio. My son doesn't like today's music...which would be what other kids his age would call their music...and there isn't one group out there that I would go buy a CD of...my son loves music...but he loves the same things I love...but it is pretty sad for me to see that he really doesn't have nothing to pick from to have stuff from his own generation.
One of the songs that came on today as I was driving was this song...and me and my mom just started singing it....and knew all the words, and I think about the words to songs all the time...and think how nice music use to be, now you can't relate to none of it...but I thought this was a good song:
Lovin' Spoonful---Do You Believe in Magic
Do you believe in magic in a young girl's heart How the music can free her, whenever it starts And it's magic, if the music is groovy It makes you feel happy like an old-time movie I'll tell you about the magic, and it'll free your soul But it's like trying to tell a stranger 'bout rock and roll
If you believe in magic don't bother to choose If it's jug band music or rhythm and blues Just go and listen it'll start with a smile It won't wipe off your face no matter how hard you try Your feet start tapping and you can't seem to find How you got there, so just blow your mind
If you believe in magic, come along with me We'll dance until morning 'til there's just you and me And maybe, if the music is right I'll meet you tomorrow, sort of late at night And we'll go dancing, baby, then you'll see How the magic's in the music and the music's in me
Yeah, do you believe in magic Yeah, believe in the magic of a young girl's soul Believe in the magic of rock and roll Believe in the magic that can set you free Ohh, talking 'bout magic
Do you believe like I believe Do you believe in magic Do you believe like I believe Do you believe, believer Do you believe like I believe Do you believe in magic {Fade}

Here's another song we heard and I thought...how does a song like this progress to Golddigger????
Peaceful Easy Feeling - The Eagles
I like the way your sparkling earrings lay Against your skin so brown And I wanna sleep with you in the desert tonight with a billion stars all around
Cz I got a peaceful easy feeling And I know you wont let me down Cz I'm already standing On the ground
And I found out a long time ago What a woman can do to your soul All that she can't take it anyway You don't already know how to go
And I got a peeceful easy feeling And I know you won't let me down Cz I'm already standing On the ground
I get this feeling I may know you As a lover, as a friend This voice keeps whispering in my other ear Tells me I may never see you again
Cz I get a peaceful easy feeling And I know you won't let me down Cz I'm already standing I'm already standing Yes I'm already standing On the ground

Perhaps P. Diddy could probably arrange the two songs somehow! Not that ISIS would want to listen to it!

Yuck!
Here's another song that we were singing...that I knew all the words too...I wasn't sure who sang it though...I always thought it was by Neil Diamond, until I looked it up...but I love the words to it too:
Nice To Be With You ( Gallery )
Oh, it's so nice to be with you I love all the things you say and do And it's so nice to hear you say You're gonna please me in every way Honey, I got the notion You're causin' commotion in my soul
Baby, you and me have got somethin' that's real I know it's gonna last a lifetime Aww, you better believe it, girl At night I call your name Darkness fills my room, I'm only dreamin' About the time I'm gonna be with you
Oh, it's so nice to be with you I love all the things you say and do And it's so nice to hear you say You're gonna please me in every way Honey, I got the notion You're causin' commotion in my soul
When I'm feelin' down You're there to pick me up and help me to carry on Aww, little things mean a lot When you need a shoulder to cry on I'm there to ease the pain and chase away the rain Aww, Darlin', I just gotta say
Oh, it's so nice to be with you I love all the things you say and do And it's so nice to hear you say You're gonna please me in every way Honey, I got the notion You're causin' commotion in my soul
Oh, it's so nice to be with you I love all the things you say and do And it's so nice to hear you say You're gonna please me in every way
Oh, it's so nice to be with you...

Well, I could see how you could think Neil Diamond did that song. Gallery's singer DID sound a little bit like Neil!
