I saw a film in the early to mid 80's, but I think it was filmed in the 70's as the kids rode chopper bikes and wore brown flares! I can remember that there were a few children (one of whom was a fat boy) The children met a friend called Spider, who rode a chopper bike. I remember there being a largish house and some secret tunnels. That is all I can remember. Can anyone help?

Ok, these are all long shots I found by searching the IMDB (www.imdb.com) under the character name 'Spider'.
Those were the only ones from the 70's that looked likely.
Having said that, you might be remembering a Famous Five episode, or an episode of the Childrens Film Foundation.

there is an austrailian movie with Alf from Home and Away in it that fits the description. The kids go to an old deserted house and they meet an old woman who lives there. The guy who plays alf is some kind of smuggler/robber and is using the old womans' house as their hide out. I seem to remember them all getting imprisoned down in the basement but the old woman comes to the rescue. Spider was the streetwise kid and the other two brother and sister were there on a holiday.
