I'm trying to find a movie where there is a conversation at the end when a boy is asked if he wants a Ferrari (I think), but he replies 'Why would I want a Ferrari when I've got a Portia?' (think Porsche) and he's talking about a girl..
For a while I thought it was Weird Science, but unless there is a different ending, it's not.
I'm pretty certain it's an 80's movie - but I can't find it and I'm sure I didn't dream it!!!
Please help!
(I fell in love with the name and my daughter now has it...)

That's good to hear that it sounds familiar! People ask me about my daughters name and I tell them the reason, just want to be able to finish the story.

What a great story and name. Really cool. Sorry I can't help on the movie but I wonder if License to Drive is it?

I don't know what films that's from, but the closing line to Licence To Drive was, "No Thanks, I Already Have A Mercedes".

Hmmm - just checked out the script for License To Drive and that could be it (perhaps I got the name wrong).
Going to watch it to see if the scene is as I remember it - I'll report back!

So it was Licence To Drive?

After watching License to Drive, it appears that was the movie I was thinking about. How I got Portia is now a bigger mystery!
There goes my magical story. I'll have to change my daughters name!!!!
Thanks for your help.

Oh no. Really? That would be a big undertaking, she must be used to Pprtia?

I’m assuming that was meant tongue and cheek? What a bummer though! Still a good story. Now we need to find some other 80s movies with the name Portia. Has to be a couple!

She's 18 in a couple of weeks, so yeah, I won't really be changing her name!
I'd be interested in finding 80's films with a Portia in.
