Only When I Laugh (1981). Georgia (Marsha Mason) is finished with a 12 week stay in rehab on Long Island ,for alcoholism . Her two best friends are there for her return home, in New York City; Jimmy (James Coco) and Toby (Joan Hackett). Georgia’s daughter Polly (Kristy McNichol) wants to move in with her. She currently lives with her Father on Park Avenue. And her ex-boyfriend Dave (David Dukes) wants her to star in his new play which he has just finished writing, a semi- biographical account of Georgia’s life. The acting was great. I loved the atmosphere of early 1980’s NYC, Georgia’s apartment and the costumes. The standout talent for me was Kristy McNichol. What a wonderful actress! It’s a shame she has left the business. Kevin Bacon also has a cameo. This was a Neil Simon film, based on his play The Gingerbread Lady.

I've seen some of it. It seems a lot like you're watching a play.

I feel like all of Neil Simon’s movies are the exact same as the plays. Lol. But I do find them enjoyable.

The characters also just 'joust' with lines of snappy dialogue, but I still enjoy them too...

This might be going off the point, but there was an English Comedy show of the same name:
It seems like it would be hilarious! Have you watched it, nodfather?

Sorry I just saw this now.
The 3 main characters were good and there was some decent humour in it. The opening theme is sung in quite a miserable way for the effect of being set in a hospital I suppose haha, but yes I think it would be worth a watch.
There are some episodes on YouTube, here's one to get an idea of it: https://youtu.be/B5-lD75MGnA Posted by TerdNthePoolGGB (Member # 9818) on :
