This topic was started years ago but I could not find it. May have been lost due to the spam attack of 2013. I love seeing them in the movies. Had to have been tons of them on the screen back then.

First one that comes to mind for me is Fast Times at Ridgemont High. What was Spiccoli playing?

Not sure right off hand Pittsburghgirl.
Maximum Overdrive has a game room at a truck stop. A couple games I could recognize were Star Castle and a couple pinball, one was Night Rider

Always loved this scene from 1983's Wargames where Matthew Broderick is playing Galaga - https://youtu.be/Byn5PIZ0q4Q .

Never played this one terd but it looks pretty cool!
https://youtu.be/Jm2Oc2AmGm0 - Fast Times At Ridgemont High arcade scene and i'm not sure the first game that he was playing but it looks to me like Spiccoli was playing Pac-Man at one stage!

The Bishop of Battle segment starring Emilio Estevez in the 1983 Anthology film Nightmares springs to mind since nearly the whole segment takes place in an arcade.

Need to pick up Nightmares on the recently released Blu Ray,that was my favourite segment The Bishop Of Battle with Estevez.
1983 T&A comedy Joysticks comes to mind as the whole thing was set around an arcade!
https://youtu.be/r86wgZ5tTPo - Joysticks intro featuring loads of well known 80s arcade games.

And of course let's not forget Marty McFly's expertise with Wild Gunman in the Café 80s, baby's game to today's generation or not.

Jekyll and Hyde... Together Again! (1982) includes some arcade madness. We can see Krista Errickson playing Pac-Man and Grand Racer.
And as you can see, she was not very good at it
Getting It On (1983) also has an arcade scene and this time the guys are playing Robby Roto!

Strange Brew had Asteroids and Galactic Border Patrol which was actually mentioned by one of the McKenzie boys. "Heres an old Galactic Border Patrol game". plus a couple pinball machines.

Great thread. This is obvious, but "Tron" (1982) partially takes place in a popular video arcade. I remember when those places were popular - LOL.

Freedom (1982) includes a cool arcade scene during the opening credits. We can see Ron (Jon Blake) playing the classic Sega Monaco GP while Michael Hutchence sings the theme tune "Speed Kills".
This is the machine.

Scene from Bloodsport (1988) with Van Damme and Donald Gibb :

Another one I just remembered - the very underrated John Sayles film "Brother from Another Planet" (1985) starred Joe Morton as an alien who landed in NYC (Harlem). He had a "power" that enabled him to fix broken electronic equipment, and so he temporarily got a job in a video arcade fixing broken video games.
There are several great sequences in this film of video game playing - rad! LOL

Just saw this last night, Ghostbusters. When they are upstairs at the old firehouse, there are a couple arcade games in the background. Not sure which ones they were and didn't have time to do a search yet. Thought I'd just add it to the list for now!

Does anyone know the name of the arcade in Gremlins. It was early in the movie in the background when they were at the Christmas tree lot.

Just looked and it looks like "RCADE" (no A) in yellow triangles with "Games" behind them. I believe I have a 4k Blu-Ray but its in my man cave so will have a look tomorrow and get a screenshot.

This is what I saw when I looked again too.

Hey. Thanks for the responses. I don't have a copy so i cant go back and rewatch . Didn't it have a name above RCADE that was unreadable? I cant remember but that's what I was thinking. Maybe im wrong. I wonder if its even real cause the town kinda looked like a fake town

Its "Doctor Fantasy's" you can't see it when they are in the tree lot, it is obscured by a banner, it is visible when the kids are playing with snow just before but it is only visible in 4k, it's too blurred otherwise.

You peaked my interest so I looked it up, Frank Marshall was the exec producer of Gremlins and Indiana Jones, Doctor Fantasy was his adopted name when he was doing magic shows.

Thanks Hoff. These little behind the scene tidbits are great and are one of my favorite things about movies. Big thanks to the FASTREWIND folksfor being a big part of that also.

Plus of course we first meet David Lightman in War Games as he shows off his prowess in the arcade--the game in question looks quite familiar, but I can't quite fully lock it down at the moment.

One of my all time favourite movies, he was playing Galaga i believe.

Wargames is a fun movie. That was the 20 GRAND arcade i believe.

I loved War Games as a kid, I still do now, it's a little dated with tech but still holds up for me. I never had a phone interface though, I joined with my 1200 baud modem and have never looked back

I don't even know what all that is Hoff. Lol but i agree its still a fantastic flick.
Watched Next of Kin which has a pretty good cast, swayze, Helen hunt, Ben Stiller, liam neesan, Adam Baldwin. The thugs had quite a few arcade games in the basement. Pac man jr was 1 i recognized

Just imagine waiting a minute to actually connect to the Internet then wait another minute maybe more for a Web page to load, you wouldn't dare trying to open 2 pages at the same time.
