I think we may have done this one quite a while back, but it was fun...so let's roll it again!

There's always that great movie that you love that just missed the 80's by a hair...on either end (the 70's or the 90's). My question is, do you have a favorite movie from the 70's and/or 90's that had that 80's feel that you love? If you could pick a movie from each era to make an honorary member of the 80's club...what would you pick? I think I'd go with Escape From Alcatraz from the 70's, and Untamed Heart From the 90's. Both had that great 80's feel and are memorable to me. Anyone else?

'Don't Tell Mom the Babysitters Dead' always felt like a holdover to me.

Mystery Date from 1991 starring Ethan Hawke and Teri Polo I felt definitely had an 80s feel to it

The 1997 comedy Eight Days A Week which is another one that i thought had that distinct 80s comedy feel!

Can't Hardly Wait (1998)

TRAILER

Didn't exactly miss the 80's by a hair, but I'll still pick this great late 90's teen comedy because it definitely has that 80's teen vibe to it.

The Tv series Freaks and Geeks certainly hit it with the leftover 1970's heading into the 80's look and feel. I believe it was set in 1981.. I know it's not in the movie category, but it seems a lot of my friends who like 80 s flicks have enjoyed this series, after I recommended it. I was sad that it only lasted one season.

Great call on Sandlot. Such a great movie too!

Here's another I think fits in this category...

Ladybugs (1992)
 -

This is a funny early 90's family comedy film starring Rodney Dangerfield, Jonathan Brandis, and Jackee that might have slipped under some radars. I haven't seen in awhile but I remember really liking it back in the day so much that I recorded it off a movie channel onto a blank VHS tape. Yeah, we all did that here right? If you enjoy Rodney Dangerfield's style of comedy or are a fan of the ever-popular crossdressing theme that was the center theme of many 80's movies, then this one is definitely worth checking out. It's very much in the same tone and style as The Sandlot...But, with girls.

Ski Patrol and Ski School- both are listed as 1990 movies, but they sure did feel like 80's flicks!

Happy Groundhog's Day!!!!!!!!!! I hope to watch this tonight. Bummed that all the streaming services I have don't have the movie on right now. I swear they have it 364 days a year.

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

It was on AMC this morning. They may be running a marathon, I'll check.

Thanks again Pittsburghgirl! It was so great to watch Groundhog's Day last night. Lots of good laughs. I had completely forgot until I did a search for a thread on this movie, that it was not an 80's movie. It totally feels like the 80s, both in looks and feel.

Tremors should have been released a year earlier.

Well with the Christmas Thread up next to this one the other day, I instantly thought of a Christmas Movie that should be an honorary 80's movie. Home Alone!

It very much feels like an 80s film, after all.
