I was wondering if any of these were worth picking up,I'm sure I've seen brubaker before but can't remember much from it but have not seen any of the others mentioned.
Any opinions would be much appreciated.
Rebel starring Matt Dillon (1985)
The Dogs of war (1980)
Space camp (1986)
Brubaker (1980)
Continental divide (1981)

I have not seen Rebel. Continental Divide is a cute rom-com with John Belushi giving an excellent out-of-character performance. The Dogs of War is an above-average action film. Walken is always good. Brubaker is a "message" film about prison corruption. It's OK. Space Camp is a kids' movie. The premise is so positively preposterous that I couldn't get past it. You have young Lea Thompson and Kelly Preston in it though.

Out of the one's I have seen: I thought that Dogs of War was totally boring. Brubaker is pretty average. I thought Continental Divide was not funny at all and is a movie that could send you to sleep.

Sold!
Cheers crash.
I don't think I've ever come across anyone on this sight who's ever seen the 1985 Matt Dillon movie rebel before, it does seem quite an obscure little 80s Aussie shot flick!

So Bernie I take it you liked em then

Well, I believe in giving honest reviews. I personally would not recommend them. If you have masochistic tendencies you could give them a go
I would be interested in seeing Rebel. 80's Matt Dillon is often good. I can just imagine how bogus the plot and premise would be for Space Camp (as pointed out by Crash).

Silly me I forgot one of my list -
Caddyshack 2 (1988)

Yeah but why worry about the plot when it's got Lea and Kelly in it

I can't argue with that. I'll take Kelly, you can have Lea

SpaceCamp, Brubaker and Continental Divide = all good stuff for 80s lovers.
I´ll try to find the time and watch Rebel tonight. Just ordered Dogs of War dvd.

Anyone ever seen this obscure 1987 action thriller - sweet revenge starring Nancy Allen.
If so any good?
Or am I just getting sucked in by the cool artwork again!

I know you weren't overstruck with rebel atomik but I got round to watching it in the end and I actually didn't dislike it!
I purchased a cheap DVD of it which starts of in wide screen and then reverts back to a modified full screen after the credits which was a bit annoying but the movie as a whole I didn't think was to bad, even the musical numbers I thought were pretty well done.
No classic but I actually enjoyed it more than I thought though I did find Dillons attempt at a deep south accent a bit grating at times!

Sweet Revenge is absolutely terrible, Nancy Allen's worst film. It's a lame, lame, lame Indiana Jones wannabe with Ted "no charisma" Shackelford as the ostensible hero. Martin Landau shows up as the villain, and though the box tells you that it's 77 minutes, take off the credits, and you have barely a feature film. I like Nancy Allen, and she's cute as always here, but this thing looks and plays like some of the bottom end stuff that Cirio Santiago did in the Philipines for Roger Corman. (OK, Gina Gershon goes skinny dipping under a waterfall...but the film's still terrible.)

I remember Space Camp being pretty entertaining. But that was when I was little. So you'd be taking a 10 year old's opinion.

warrior, my Rebel dvd was just the same, pretty annoying modified full screen.
Sweet Revenge was released here but as you can see it´s a Vestron Video movie = rare stuff. Never seen the tape on sale. I love Nancy Allen and wouldn´t mind to see Gina Gershon skinny dipping under a waterfall I´m sure the things Crash said are dead on, you can see that it´s a grade b-movie (maybe even c) but i would still like to own/see the film.

Yeah I just checked out the guys YouTube review,it was quite amusing actually,I think from what I've read and heard so far i'll approach sweet revenge with extreme caution.
Saying that if I did ever get the chance I'd still probably check it out even if it was just to see Gina gershon's waterfall skinny dip scene and to watch again Martin landau's hilarious fall from the helicopter.

i just watched the 1988 comedy it takes two starring leslie hope, when looking through her earlier performances i came across this one - the education of allison tate,i have heard of it before but never seen it though and there's next to no reviews concerning it on line!
seems a bit of an obscure one this one, can't even find a trailer.
any of you guys and gals ever checked this one out?
Posted by aTomiK (Member # 6575) on :
I have the vhs tape. I´m going to check it out one of these days.

it was released by medusa home video here in the uk so it's got the pretty cool cover art, whether the movie lives upto that cool artwork though is another thing!
