This is a nice little low-budget Canadian bare-knuckle boxing drama directed by legendary stunt coordinator and second unit director Conrad E. Palmisano. The movie stars Paul Coufos ( Lost Empire), Irene Cara, Stan Shaw and Tony Rosato.
The story is simple and the acting passable at best but i liked the gritty side of Toronto and the neighborhood camaraderie.
This is not among Irene Cara´s best works but she sings three nice tunes here. BTW, she was married to director Palmisano at the time of the film's release.
Paul Coufos is called Earl Bird in this film and he made a movie Thunderground in 1989 where his character is also called Bird . Anyone seen it and happen to know if it´s supposed to be a sequel?
I like to watch these kind of films. There´s always lots of things to enjoy, the familiar faces, the 80s feel, the soundtrack etc. Next i need to find Thunderground
That medusa artwork is really cool atomik,I also liked this movie, i first saw it about 3 or 4 yrs back,i can't ever recollect seeing Paul coufus in anything else,I'll have to check up on imdb.
Atomik If you watch the 1992 Slasher movie happy hell night(I have the anchor bay dvd,it's quite a fun little horror) there's a funny scene set in a mental institution involving a nurse and a patient who happen to be watching a scene from busted up on there portable television, not sure what the link is between the 2 movies and why they happen to be watching busted up but it's an amusing scene.

I have three more movies which include Coufos: The Lost Empire, Chopping Mall and 976-Evil II. He must be Jim Wynorski´s number one drinking pal
