This is a stretch but I'm looking for a movie that I think was made for TV. It had a boy and a mysterious man who lived in an apt or small house. In the movie the boy sneaks into his room while he is gone and finds several of his military medals and realizes he is a hero. Words that come to mind regarding the title are "Summer, Hero, 4th of July" or something similar. I'm beginning to believe I didn't actually see it.
