Some parttime soldiers on a practice get in a fight with some locals in the Louisiana bayou, and fall into a kind of 'little Vietnam'. The athmosphere in this stirring thriller is sinistre and heavy. Director/writer Walter Hill tells his story very effectively, to the point, without any fuss. The tension between the soldiers is translated very well. Ry Cooder's music is just great.

Saw this couple years ago. Love Vietnam movies but did not think it was good enough to own. Maybe will watch again someday to see if it grows on me.

Classic! Walter Hill is one of the greatest directors of all time.
I still remember the first time we watched this during one of our movie nights back in the 80s. Iīve loved Southern Comfort ever since.
I own the dvd and just bought the VHS tape for nostalgic reasons.
Awesome, tight and even haunting story, fantastic cast and once again, good score from Ry Cooder.
You talkinī to me?
If you havenīt seen it, get it! But keep in mind, this is a MENīs movie
I have to post a bigger version of this classic poster:
